Our Catalogue for the 1st September sale is now available for inspection at www.traffordbooks.co.uk where clients will be able to browse through 287 Lots of Books, Ephemera, Autographs, Cigarette Cards, Postcards, Stamps and Postal History. The auction commences with a Book & Ephemera section of 77 lots and features a 1936 edition of Arthur Waley's One Hundred & Seventy Chinese Poems inscribed by the author to Virginia Woolf; the final part of a collection of Staffordshire local & family history and English literature formed by the late Stuart Hobson; scarce limited editions by Folio Society and the Aboca Museum in fine bindings; and an album of 19th Century albumen prints of photos by John Valentine, Francis Bedford and others mostly of Norway and Chester.This is followed by a good section of Model Railways with good locomotives by Bassett-Lowke, Ace Trains and others, largely in 'O' gauge; 14 lots of Cigarette & Trade Cards including three examples of the rare 1898 series by Ogden Sporting and Other Girls; and 57 lots of Postcards with much GB topography, good France, Military, WWI Silks and Shipping. The balance of the auction comprises 130 lots of World Stamps and Postal History with many mixed lots and country collections.
